Flour
Baking powder
Salt
How to make the Sugar Cookies
Cream the butter and Vanilla Sugar together in a stand mixer. Add the vanilla and almond extracts, along with the egg and mix thoroughly. Next add the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir the baking powder and salt into the flour right in the mixer. Mix until the dough comes together.
Form the dough into a disk and place on a floured rolling surface. Flour the surface, the dough and the rolling pin as you work to prevent sticking. Cut out cookie shapes, re-roll the dough and continue cutting out cookies until the dough is gone. This recipe will make about 2 3/4 dozen cookies. Place the cookies on baking trays and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes. They should start to turn golden brown where the cookie touches the pan. You want them just done enough to set, but not browned on top. Cool completely.
For the Chocolate Sugar Cookies

Almond extract
Egg
Flour
Cocoa powder
Baking powder

How to make the Chocolate Sugar Cookies
Follow the instructions for Sugar Cookies above with one adjustment. Swap 1/2 – 3/4 cup of the flour for cocoa powder. I swapped 1/2 cup for a light chocolate sugar cookie. If you want a deeper chocolate, swap 3/4 cup flour for cocoa powder.
Cookie Icing
Ice the cookies with my Cream Cheese Icing. You can make a batch of icing, divide it into three bowls and add food coloring to two bowls to make pink and red icing. As you ice the cookies, add sprinkles and candy pearls.
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Raspberries and Cinnamon Gummy Bears
Rinse and pat dry the strawberries.
Place a cup of melting chocolates into a medium bowl. Microwave 1 minute, then stir. Microwave in 30 second increments until completely smooth, stirring after each 30 second increment. As you use the melting chocolate, add additional cups and repeat to melt them. If the melting chocolate becomes hardened, you can microwave it again.
You can use chocolate, white chocolate or colored melting candies.
Dip each strawberry, raspberry and cinnamon gummy bear into the melting chocolate and place it on a piece of waxed paper to harden. You can dip half a strawberry at an angle in one type of chocolate. Let dry, then dip the other half in another type of chocolate. Or dip the entire strawberry in one color, then drizzle another color using a fork.
Top off the platter with extra Valentine candy and enjoy!
