Homemade Ranch Dressing

Homemade Ranch Dressing

Homemade Ranch Dressing is so easy to make and so much better when you make it yourself. Plus you can customize your recipe to include what you like and leave out what you don’t. Everyone loves buttermilk ranch, but for some reason, my family likes it better made with milk. I love the dill in ranch dressing, so there’s lots of dill in my recipe. I also include dehydrated onion.

What you need

Mayonnaise

Sour cream

Milk

Parsley

Dill

Dehydrated onion

Garlic powder

Onion powder

Salt

Pepper

Tips and suggestions:

This recipe works best with regular mayonnaise. I’ve used olive oil and avocado oil mayonnaise and they just seem to sieze up in the mixture.

Feel free to change the amount of seasonings. I love dill in Ranch Dressing, but if you want less, reduce the amount to 1/2 teaspoon. If you don’t love the pieces of dehydrated onion, reduce the amount or leave them out all together.

How many different types of Ranch Dressing can you come up with? Add any of the following ingredients for great new flavors of Homemade Ranch Dressing.

Chipotle Ranch – Use your food processor to blend a chipotle pepper with a little of the adobo sauce it comes in

BBQ Ranch – Add some of your favorite BBQ sauce

Avocado Ranch – Avocado can be added in small dices or made smooth in a food processor

Cucumber Ranch – Again, add it in small dices or process it into a smooth addition

Parmesan Ranch – Add fresh grated parmesan

However you decide to make it, just give it a stir and you’re good to go. Try your favorite Ranch Dressing on my BLT Salad.

How to make Homemade Ranch Dressing

For being such a great recipe with noticeably homemade flavor, this dressing really is very simple to make.

First, put all the ingredients except the milk into a mixing bowl. Stir to combine.

Next, add the milk gradually. The mixture will be quite thick without milk. You can control how thick or thin you’d like your dressing to be by how much milk you stir into it.

The dressing thickens a little once all the herbs and seasonings have absorbed the milk. After a day or two in the refrigerator, just add more milk if you want to thin it down a little. I keep my Homemade Ranch Dressing in a jar with a blender ball to help shake it up.
