Homemade Hummus

Once you try Homemade Hummus, you’ll never buy it again! So easy, fresh and delicious. You can make any flavor you’d like.

This recipe is so quick and easy. We make our own hummus all the time, in a variety of flavors. This recipe will give you basic hummus, topped with pine nuts, which is great on its own. Or you can add ingredients to give it different flavors.

 

Add any of these ingredients for a variety of hummus flavors:

 

Roasted garlic

Roasted red peppers

Sun dried tomatoes

Herbs such as rosemary, thyme, basil or dill

Cilantro, jalapeno and lime juice instead of lemon juice

Chipotles in adobo sauce or crushed red pepper for heat

 

What you need for Homemade Hummus

 

Garbanzo beans (Chick peas)

Tahini

Lemon juice

Extra virgin olive oil

Garlic powder

Cumin

Coriander

Paprika

Salt

Pine nuts

 

 

How to make your own Hummus

 

In a food processor, combine the tahini and lemon juice and process for 1 minute.

Add the olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, coriander, paprika and salt. Process for 30 seconds.

 

Add the garbanzo beans and process for 2 minutes, scraping down the sides halfway through processing. Now add 2 tablespoons of water as the processor is running.

 

Transfer to a serving bowl. Top with extra virgin olive oil, paprika and pine nuts. Serve with your favorite pita chips.

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika, plus more for serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
